How Departments Are Allotted To Qualified ESE Candidate (IES) – Engineering Services Exam

After the Interviews of IES are completed, a final Merit list is prepared by combined marks of Written and Interview and displayed on UPSC website along with candidates’ names and roll numbers as the Final Result.

After the final result is declared, Medical Examination is held at Railway hospitals spread across India. According to the individual’s medical health, she/he can be declared with a status as following:

  1. Fit for all services
  2. Unfit for some services
  3. Unfit for all services
  4. Temporarily Unfit

Candidate’s medical status is declared in the Final Medical Result.

After the final medical result is declared, Railway Board does the Department allocation based on the Service Preference given by Candidates, Merit Listdeclared by UPSC and the Medical Examination results declared by Railway Hospitals.
